Life By Design, Inc. is committed to promoting the
principles of self-determination in the lives of people with disabilities by listening and responding to families
and individuals we support.
Values
We value each person's right to have a life that makes
sense to him or her.
We value each person's inner wisdom and the right to be
heard.
We believe that everyone should live in a place that is
"home," where he or she makes most of or all of the decisions, a
place that feels secure and comfortable.
We believe that supports should be held to the highest
standard and recognize the role that support professionals play in the
lives of people with disabilities and their families.
We value the importance of relationships; family and
friends make all of our lives more rich and meaningful.
Goals
Partner with individuals and families to design and
direct personalized support plans that embrace choice, balance safety and
risk, and incorporate relationships, informal supports, technology, and
environmental design.
Seek out opportunities for persons supported, to develop
and maintain meaningful relationships with friends, family, and community
members.
Promote principles of self-determination through
collaboration with individuals supported, and their families, and other
professionals. We will work to move the current system further in
the direction of self-determination by "inspiring" those
responsible for arranging or providing supports with real life
self-determination stories and examples.
Recognizing the value of the role of the support
professional, we will create opportunities for professional development,
greater autonomy, and high levels of responsibility for employees or
support professionals.
Implement a structure that incorporates "best"
practices and policies that comply with applicable licensing, regulations,
and laws. |
